2019 NOMINATIONS

Australian Mining is pleased to open nominations for the 2019 Awards!

Full nomination criteria for each category is listed below. Nominations are free and must be submitted online using the forms below.

Nominations will close on Friday 9 August 2019.

SAFETY ADVOCATE AWARD
This Award recognises an individual who is committed to ensuring and improving safety in the mining industry.

NOMINATE NOW

Nomination criteria:
1. Individual must have developed or introduced a new safety initiative into the workplace.
2. Individual must have a career background and/or qualification in the safety field.
3. Individual must have been working in the mining or minerals processing industry for at least two (2) years.
COMMUNITY INTERACTION
An award for a miner, business, or individual that best supports mining and the local or wider community.

Nomination criteria:
1. Nominee must have had a program or initiative that has been active in the 12 months from 1 January 2018.
2. The program must benefit the community outside of the mining industry.
3. The program or initiative must have tangible results for the community, that can be demonstrated.
CONTRACT MINER OF THE YEAR
An award recognising excellence in contract mining, engineering, projects, and services over the last 12 months.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Nominated project must have taken place in the time period from 1 January 2018.
2. Nominee must be able to demonstrate measurable success that has occurred as a direct result of the contract.
CONTRIBUTION TO MINING
An award recognising those have gone above and beyond in the last two years.

Nomination criteria:
1. Individual is in a senior position within the mining industry.
2. Individual has actively contributed to the growth and/or innovation to their company.
3. Individual has contributed to the wider industry within the last two (2) years.
HARD ROCK MINE OF THE YEAR
Recognition for a hard rock mine that is performing well or has carried out an innovative project or program.

Nomination criteria:
1. Mine is located within Australian territory.
2. Mine performance has trended up within the last two (2) years from 1 January 2017.
3. Company has implemented a new project or initiative at the mine site from 1 January 2018.
COAL MINE OF THE YEAR
Recognition for a coal mine that is performing well or has carried out an innovative project or program.

Nomination criteria:
1. Mine is located within Australian territory.
2. Mine performance has trended up within the last 12 months from 1 January 2018.
3. Company has implemented a new project or initiative at the mine site from 1 January 2018.
EXCELLENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Recognition for a mine, company, or project that has developed or carried out an innovative, environmentally focused program.

NOMINATE NOW

Nomination criteria:
1. Nominee has implemented an environmental program within the last 12 months from 1 January 2018.
2. Program has delivered measurable environmental benefits since its introduction.
3. Program differs significantly from others in the industry, or is the first of its kind.
EXCELLENCE IN MINE SAFETY, OH&S
Recognition for a mine, company, or project that has developed or carried out a program that increased safety, removes risk, or cuts worker issues on a project or mine.

Nomination criteria:
1. Program has been implemented with the last 12 months from 1 January 2018.
2. Project has received demonstrable buy-in from workers.
3. Project has significantly reduced risk and/or worker injuries since implementation.
MINERALS PROCESSING OF THE YEAR
Recognition for a mine, company, or project that has developed or carried out an innovative or unique minerals processing program that increased efficiency, productivity, or safety.

Nomination criteria:
1. Program has been implemented with the last 12 months from 1 January 2018.
2. Project has received demonstrable buy-in from workers.
3. Project has achieved demonstrable success in relation to productivity, efficiency and/or safety.
INNOVATIVE MINING SOLUTION
Recognition for a mine, company, or project that has developed a unique mining solution that has increased efficiency, productivity, or safety.

NOMINATE NOW

Nomination criteria:
1. Solution has been developed within the last 12 months from 1 January 2018.
2. Solution must not already exist within the industry – it must be an entirely new solution.
3. Product has tangible results that have been demonstrated in the field.
MINE MANAGER OF THE YEAR
Recognition for an outstanding mine manager.

Nomination criteria:
1. Individual must have been managing the site for at least six (6) months from 1 January 2018.
2. Individual must have been in the mining and minerals processing industry for at least two (2) years.
3. Individual has overseen demonstrable success at the site, or managed the implementation of a new project or initiative while manager.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Recognition for a leader who has made a significant contribution to the Australian mining industry and community over the course of their lifetime.

This special category is announced at the Awards ceremony.
AUSTRALIAN MINE OF THE YEAR
Recognition for an Australian mine that is performing well or has carried out an innovative project or program.

Australian Mine of the Year is chosen from Hard Rock Mine of the Year and Coal Mine of the Year finalists.
